A neuropsychological evaluation assesses the functioning of brain systems, specifically cognition. The abilities evaluated include memory, attention, processing speed, reasoning, problem-solving, mood and personality and more. Neuropsychological evaluation can help with with diagnosis, treatment, or other recommendations.  

The neuropsychologist will first meet with you and ask questions to get an understanding of your situation and concerns. Then you will complete tests typically involving writing or drawing, solving puzzles or answering questions, and responding to things presented on a computer. Finally, the neuropsychologist will write up the overall findings in a report and will go over the results and recommendations with you.

A medical-legal neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment that examines cognitive functioning in the context of legal proceedings.
